This Old Record

Look at this old record.
It looks tattered and worn.
It looks disheveled and slovenly.
It looks grim and decayed.

It may look a certain way to one who only judges by looks.
Although, if one ventures deeper and listens to its songs,
they will see there is more than just a ragged appearance.
There is more to this old record.

Take the time to really look at this old record.
It is fragile and scarred.
It is beaten and bruised.
It is discrete and alone.

Unjustly crushed
until destroyed,
forever lying
in the void.
Left forgotten
and hurt,
completely bereft
and burnt.
Never heard,
lyrics remain unspoken,
and you can see, in the center,
it is broken.
